How do I connect to PAL 3.0 with Linux (Ubuntu)?

NOTE: The instructions pertain to versions 9.10, 10.04, and 12.10 (partially).

  1. Click on the 'Network Connection' icon in the upper-right corner of the screen.

  2. Choose the option to 'Connect to Hidden Wireless Network'. 
  3. Enter 'PAL3.0' into the 'Network Name' field (there is no space between PAL and the number). 
  4. For 'Wireless Security', choose 'WPA & WPA2 Enterprise'. 
  5. For 'Authentication', choose 'Protected EAP (PEAP)'. 
  6. The 'Anonymous Identity' field should remain blank.

  7. In the 'CA certificate' field, click the drop-down menu to open a search window. 
  8. In the search window that appears, navigate to File System/etc/ssl/, and choose 'AddTrust_External_CA_Root.pem' or 'AddTrust_External_Root.pem' for Ubuntu 12.10. 
  9. Click 'Open'.

  10. For 'PEAP' version, choose 'Version 0'. 
  11. For 'Inner authentication', choose 'MSCHAPv2'. 
  12. Provide your Purdue career account username and password in the respective fields. 
  13. Click 'Connect'.

The network connection icon will show that you are connected to the PAL 3.0 network.
